Rethinking Workplace Wellness
Many existing health intervention approaches remain largely episodic, clinic-based, and focus solely on individual risk factors limiting their scalability and effectiveness in real-world settings.
NUS Health is a workplace-embedded health programme for National University of Singapore (NUS) employees designed to break this cycle by providing personalised goals and feedback to improve sleep, reduce sedentary behaviour, and promote physical activity.
Why NUS Health?
While health is universally recognised as a foundational asset, modern professional demands often lead us to treat it as an inexhaustible resource. Essential health behaviours are frequently compromised to accommodate career and family obligations. We routinely defer lifestyle modifications until our schedules become “less busy”. Unfortunately, these behaviour patterns become deeply ingrained over time, increasing the friction required to change them later. Interventions to poor habits often occur after damage has been done, making it difficult or impossible to reverse.
Opportunities on Campus
We spend a substantial portion of our waking hours on campus, which means our daily habits are heavily institutionalised by our workplace culture. While the clinical benefits of adequate sleep, physical activity and reduced sedentary time are widely understood, translating this knowledge into sustained daily healthy routines remain a significant challenge.
How It Works
NUS Health will be recruiting 2,000 NUS staff members as participants from August to October 2026. The study duration spans 15 to 16 months based on your start date.
Engagement Incentives
To support your journey, the programme pairs personalised goals and feedback with a structured incentive framework designed to reward active, continuous participation.
Individualised Goals
You will receive tickets for entry into a monthly ballot for cash incentives upon achieving personalised health behaviour goals tailored specifically to your baseline data.
Collective Group Goals
Embracing the power of peer support, you can team up with colleagues in groups of 5 to 10 to unlock additional quarterly group draws for cash incentives.
Eligibility
Participation is open to:
- All full-time NUS employees
- Willing to install required study apps on a smartphone running Android 11.0+ or iOS 16.0+
